We had a great opportunity to be involved in a major installation project at the new Sails to Rails Over Sea Railway Historeum at the Historic Tours of America Flagler Station, located at 901 Caroline Street, Key West.
The centerpiece of the historeum is a model of Fort Jefferson built by David Harrison Wright. Two years in the making, historically accurate, and built to scale, the model depicts the fort as it was in the 1860’s.
We were thrilled to create the backgrounds and interpretive wall exhibits surrounding the model of Ft. Jefferson, including:
- An eight by thirty foot Phototex print backdrop surrounding the model using Alan Kennish’s fine art seascape panoramic photography of Loggerhead Key captured from a Garden Key vantage.
- An additional print reproduction on the other side of the curving wall using Phototex panels to create a illustrative timeline.
- Archival prints of original paintings by David Harrison Wright, as well as laminated, metal, and mounted prints from our historical image archive.
Phototex is an adhesive-backed print surface that allows us to make oversized reproductions that are installed in panels for both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
